Kevin Klimas, president and founder of Phoenix-based employment screening firm Clarifacts, was recently elected to the board of the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS) for a two-year term.
“NAPBS’ mission is to promote ethical business practices, compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), equal employment opportunity, and state and international consumer protection laws relating to the background screening profession,” said Kevin Klimas, president and founder of Clarifacts. “It’s a mission I believe in, and I am proud and honored to contribute as a member of the board of directors.”
Klimas is a founding member of NAPBS, and since the association’s inception in 2003 has served in a variety of roles, most recently as the chair of the Background Screening Credentialing Council (BSCC). Klimas’ prior experience on the BSCC included a term as the council vice-chair, as well as chairman of the first standards sub-committee.
Prior to the official formation of the BSCC, Klimas led the standards team of the accreditation task force, whose directive was to solidify the Consumer Reporting Agency (CRA) accreditation standard clauses and create the auditing criteria. He was also a member of the first best practices committee.

The NAPBS board is comprised of 13 members – the chairperson, immediate past chair, chair elect, treasurer, secretary, six regular member directors and two associate directors. The board’s role is to set the direction of the organization, administer implementation of the strategy and oversee the committees and international chapters.
